10 Songs That Inspired Dance Crazes

9. Drake - Toosie Slide

"Toosie Slide" is another addition to Drake’s dance hits including "Non-stop", "Hotline Bling" and "In my feelings". Toosie Slide is named after the dance's creator, Toosie a 23-year-old dancer from Atlanta who came up with the dance when Drake DM’d him before the release of the track. The dance went viral prior to Drake’s official release and has only continued to grow since Drake gave a go at the dance in his official music video.

The track being released during the national lockdown of the coronavirus pandemic meant that fans had more time to interact with the song and of course the catchy dance moves via social media. The rapper showed he was taking isolation seriously sporting gloves and a face mask in the video. During the chorus of Toosie Slide, Drake instructs us on the dance moves saying "It go, right foot up, left foot slide, Left foot up, right foot slide".

Drake’s Toosie Slide then became the first music trend to reach a billion views on TikTok. Again the simplicity has allowed fans and other stars such as Jason Derulo and Justin Bieber to give it a go and elevate the dance trend. If you haven’t already, give it a go.
