4. We Are The Champions - Queen
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04854XqcfCY Freddie Mercury has lent his vocals to some of the most iconic pieces of rock music in the past 50 years. From the number one hit Bohemian Rhapsody and favourites Radio Gaga and Crazy Little Thing Called Love, none are more memorable than We Are The Champions. This song is everywhere, no joke. In fact, the song was involved in a scientific study regarding how the human brain remembers catchy tunes and how certain tracks get stuck in a person's head. It was a group of scientists at the University of London who lead the study, with Dr Daniel Mullensiefen saying: 'We've discovered that there's a science behind the singalong, and a special combination of neuroscience, maths and cognitive psychology can produce the elusive elixir of the perfect singalong song." In other words, everyone loves this single. Even more so because the B-side was another major smash, in the form of We Will Rock You. Can you believe it? We Will Rock You wasn't even the primary release, with both tracks ceasing their chart climb at number 2. To think that the UK public has sent the likes of Steve Brookstein to number 1 but failed to do the same We Are The Champions is pretty crazy. Ridiculous even.
