10 Terrible Rock Songs By Legendary Rock Bands
2. Hot Dog - Led Zeppelin
The entire iteration of Led Zeppelin that we know has been solidified in rock history. Since newer bands are still drawing inspiration from their glory years, it's safe to say that anything that was done during the '70s with Zeppelin deserves to be among the most revered albums in rock history. Though things would quickly fall apart after John Bonham's death, it's not like problems weren't forming with their latest album.
That's not to say In Through the Out Door is a terrible record by any stretch, with songs like Fool in the Rain and All My Love showing the band adapting to different sounds and even sprinkling in some synths in between Jimmy Page's guitars. Things do start to take a bit of a dip on the song Hot Dog, which is one of the most unnecessary tracks that has ever made the track list for a Zeppelin album.
Being more of an homage to the old days of rock and roll, this sounds like Robert Plant trying to do an Elvis impression, only it sounds like he's cribbing his notes from the Vegas period of the King when he was really starting to wane in relevancy. Considering how many times they paid homage to their heroes, this is definitely a shocker. When they paid tribute to Muddy Waters, we got The Lemon Song; when they paid tribute to Little Richard, we got Rock and Roll; when they paid tribute to the King, we got...this.
