10 Worst Closing Songs On Great Albums

3. Run For Your Life - The Beatles

Even the most diehard Beatles fans tend to prefer the moment where the band started to leave their boy band phase aside to make some outlandish music. Though they were still touring the world on the back of albums like Help, you can tell that they were getting tired of the road and were set to make songs that spoke to one another on an album rather than playing everything live. Rubber Soul was definitely the tipping point, but old habits die hard in the case of Run For Your Life.

Granted, it's kind of easy to talk about this song in negative terms, since John Lennon has gone on record saying that he didn't like the song very much. Whereas the rest of this album has a lot more adventurous songs like the folk rock of If I Needed Someone and the sitar used on Norwegian Wood, this is just your standard by the numbers Beatles song, with more than a few questionable lyrics.

Looking at the rest of the album, Run For Your Life feels like an Elvis rip off complete with John Lennon threatening his girlfriend should she run off with another man. After coming off of mature love songs like Girl and You Won't See Me, this isn't just a sore thumb, it's almost a complete step backwards. Rubber Soul certainly deserves all the praise it gets, but this one song feels like it belongs on a different album entirely.
