10 Worst Villains Of Rock And Roll Music
1. Mike Love
For a band that seemed all about '60s fun and sunshine, time has been far more kind to the Beach Boys than it ever should have. Considering how manufactured a lot of their songs sounded both then and now, the artistic ability of Brian Wilson made these records some of the greatest pop productions in history, going on to influence every single genre of music that followed. When you don't look at Brian though, Mike Love becomes more and more difficult to stomach as the years go on.
Granted, this isn't even that new of a thing either, with Love being a bit of a jerk ever since the '60s, trying to downplay Brian's creative side so it wouldn't mess with the winning formula that the band already had. Even when making the pop masterpiece Pet Sounds, Mike Love was still questioning as to whether the songs would work with their core audience.
In the years since the glory days though, Mike Love has seemed to have doubled down on his reputation as a deplorable character, going so far as to call out the Beatles and the Stones for not being all that tough and procuring the rights to the band name to tour the summer circuit every once in a while. Though Brian's work is untouchable in the pop music realm, Mike Love is the reason why the Beach Boys have become known as a doofy nostalgia act over the years.
