12 Greatest Nu-Metal Bands Of All Time

1. Linkin Park

With the release of their debut album ‘Hybrid Theory’ in 2000, Linkin Park arrived during the peak of the Nu Metal movement with a fresh sound that caught the imagination of fans from within the genre as well as a wider mainstream audience.

The colossal success of ‘Hybrid Theory’ launched the band into super stardom and the album has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. Their following 2003 album ‘Meteora’ was equally as successful and saw the band further experiment with their Nu Metal sound. However, the band would then stray from what had become their signature style and explore other more traditional genres.

The change in sound did not affect their record sales and they remained one of the most successful rock bands in the world during the late 2000s and 2010s. However, they were often criticised by their long-term fans and accused of abandoning the Nu Metal scene.

A desired return to the Nu Metal genre will never be able to happen now after the tragic passing of lead singer Chester Bennington in 2017. But the legacy of Bennington and Linkin Park’s work will forever be remembered, in particular their Hybrid Theory album, which will go down as one of the most significant metal albums of this generation.
