12 Greatest Nu-Metal Bands Of All Time
9. Deftones
Although relatively unknown at the time, Deftones’ ‘Adrenaline’ album, released in 1995, is regarded by some as a seminal record in the rise of the Nu Metal movement.
‘Adrenaline’ did not set the world alight upon it’s initial release, but extensive touring and word-of-mouth promotion saw Deftones amass a dedicated fanbase over time from fans that were drawn to the unique sounds they heard on this album and their 1997 follow-up, ‘Around The Fur’.
The Californian band did find mainstream success later on through albums such as ‘White Pony’ and their self-titled 2003 release, although later albums did see them gradually move away from their Nu Metal sound.
Deftones have become known for their experimental music that has resulted in them delving into multiple different elements of the heavy metal genre. Still remaining relevant to this day, they recently announced that they are currently mixing what will be their ninth studio album.
