12 Most Hated Hard Rock Songs (On Great Albums)
8. Hot Dog - Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin is one of those bands who you could safely say never made a bad album. Across their eclectic discography, each new venture the band went down resulted in some of the most impressive rock music ever made in the 70's. As the band got to making In Through the Out Door, their inhibitions led them in even more different directions.
The album is full of great songs from the John Bonham showcase "Fool In the Rain" to the heartbreaking Robert Plant ballad "All My Love," but more often than not people's opinions on this album come down to "Hot Dog." By this point, Led Zeppelin's music tended to be a bit more operatic in scope, so the inclusion of this simple rockabilly tune had many fans scratching their heads. The band's sound always suited the bluesy shuffle of old rock and roll, but Plant's voice is suited to a singer like Janis Joplin as opposed to Elvis Presley.
While the best Led Zeppelin tunes leave you feeling spiritually lifted, it's safe to say "Hot Dog" is probably the most forgettable song in the entire Zeppelin catalog. The song is fine for what it is, but it's not going to replace "Stairway to Heaven" any time soon.
