5. Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy - 2010
Put aside all your previous conceptions of Rap for a second. Now listen to 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy'. If needs be listen to it twice. This album is brilliant, not just in West's lyrics, which speak of pop culture, sex, and reference to the public's view of West after that infamous 'Imma let you finish...' incident of 2009, but musically as well, incorporating rock music, as well various elements from his previous 4 albums. Despite the reflective nature of celebrity in the lyrical content, the album as whole reeks of granduer, no doubt a reflection of West's already we known Messiah complex. Putting the rapper to one side, 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' is just that; dark, gritty in places, rich, and bloody good.
