7. Stupify

Though not as dark, Draiman shows off his early lyrical genius with several transitions from a soft and melodious voice to his raspier and more aggressive singing voice. This staccato voice has become a trademark of his that has made him a more recognizable vocalist.

As for lyrics and theme, ‘Stupify’ is all about the consequences of ethnic and racial discrimination. Draimen, who grew up in a strict Jewish family, had to deal with many restrictions, and one of the most prominent ones was about one of his past loves. He couldn’t be with her because she was of a different ethnicity.

Hence the lyrics of "All I wanted was…, one tiny little innocent…", as they describe the innocence of what he thought was the simple love between two individuals. His confusion and resentment of the idea of racial discrimination is well-placed in the lyrics "See but I don’t get it", and even in the title, which means ‘difficulty in understanding’.

In terms of instruments, the drums, guitar, and additional instruments in the background make for an excellent song that's great listening regardless of where you are. The intro is smooth, the first bridge complements the lyrics perfectly, leading to a perfectly done climax.

All in all, an excellent song that highlights the best of each band member’s skills.

Best Lyrics:

“Why, do you like playing around with,
My narrow scope of reality,
I can feel it all start slippin',
I think I'm breaking down”
