Infected Mushroom’s 2003 album ‘Converting Vegetarians’ was an experimental album, with many new features and sounds that the band had never used before. ‘Deeply Disturbed’ is one such a track, and although it appears on the ‘Trance side’ of the album, it nonetheless features some new sounds that were rarely heard in IM music before, if ever.

The use of the more classical instruments adds some more uniqueness to the track, which allows it to stand out in IM’s most track-heavy album to date. This track can be best described as the ‘crossroads’ of IM’s musical progression.

On one hand, you have the softer elements of Goa trance that the band started with, which includes few sounds that really jump out and dominate over the others and more delay in individual instruments. On the other hand, the bassline is more closely connected to the psychedelic side over the Goa side, and the leads are a bit sharper than they are acidic, which is a more psychedelic element.

Nevertheless, ‘Deeply Disturbed’ is a truly unique track that deserves to be listened to as much as possible, whether it’s this original version or the Infected Remix that was released four years later.
