15 Best Metal Albums Of 2019

11. Funereal Presence - Achatius

Not seen since 2014's The Archer Takes Aim, Funereal Presence blasted back with Achatius in February. The sonics are as blistering as the songwriting is intricate. Achatius is an evil shredder of a record with more ideas on single tracks than many of Funereal Presence's peers show on entire albums, all wrapped up in gloriously lo-fi production that's raw, unpolished, and harks back to the genre's glory days.

It's an exercise in dexterity without sacrificing black metal's core traits, and an album that sounds like it was written to satiate traditionalists and more adventurous listeners alike.
