15 Most Distinctive Singing Voices In Rock & Metal

11. Jonathan Davis

A band with a name as uniquely bizarre as Korn was always going to boast an equally unique frontman. Jonathan Davis, the man of a thousand foreheads, is not someone you'll ever mistake for anyone else.

As acquired of a taste his vocal talents probably are, no-one can deny the sheer versatility of singing styles Davis brings to the table. His natural singing voice is not unlike a gruffer, more rocked-up version of Gary Numan's, with lethargic transitions between notes and a peculiar set of pronunciations all his own.

Then there's the more esoteric side of his performance, which includes both deep growling timbres and soft-spoken head-voice 'poems' that really capture the psychological themes he often sings about. In the space of a single song, Davis can go from whimpering closely into the microphone to an epic metal scream-feast, and then back again.

If you haven't given Korn a chance, do so, if only for a distinctive sound you'll never quite forget.
