5. (We Are) The Road Crew
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H71VEV1c_XE An insanely catchy track as contagious as man-flu and one which remains one of the finest songs to feature on 1980's untouchable Ace of Spades album. "(We Are) The Road Crew" is a warts and all account of the whirlwind life of a hard rock band's road crew, as Lemmy gruffly vocalises the highs and lows of life on the road:
Another night, I'm going mad, My woman's leaving, I feel sad, But I just love the life I lead, Another beer is what I need, Another gig my ears bleed, We are the road crew.
As a slight departure from normal proceedings, Lemmy noticeably makes some effort to transform his trademarked bark into a singing voice that may not be refined but does add an element of melody often missing from their earlier work. A stand-out track on an album filled to the whiskey glass brim with single malt quality,"(We Are) The Road Crew" remains a classic and no mistake.
