5 Best Glastonbury Headline Sets Of The Last Decade

3. The Killers

After a less than positive appearance headlining The Pyramid in 2007, Brandon Flowers and co. made their way back to Somerset in 2017 for a surprise appearance on The John Peel Stage, causing the tent it is housed in to become overcrowded, and the area to be ultimately closed by security. For those lucky few thousand in attendance in 2017, the Las Vegas rockers gave an insight into what to expect for their career-spanning set following the notorious fallow year in 2019.

Walking on stage to Frank Sinatra classic, 'Luck Be A Lady', and Flowers wearing a custom-made glittering blue suit, the Las Vegas rockers opened with Hot Fuss classic, 'Jenny Was A Friend of Mine'. It is easy to forget just how many hits The Killers have, but a re-watch of this set will bring the memories flooding back, as they blazed through classic indie hits such as 'Somebody Told Me', 'Spaceman' and 'When You Were Young'.

If that wasn't enough, the band's encore provided two incredible surprises. The first was the introduction of The Pet Shop Boys, who assisted in a performance of 2009 classic, 'Human', as well as a performance of Gwen McRae song, 'You Were Always On My Mind', which was initially covered by The Pet Shop Boys in 1987. The second, was introduced by Flowers as "Guitar hero, Johnny F*cking Marr", to join the band in a performance of The Smiths' classic 'This Charming Man'. The set was rounded off the only possible way The Killers could leave the stage; A performance of indie disco staple, Mr Brightside.

Just as Mr Flowers stated during the set "Those are the sons of bitches that did it."
