8 Rock Bands With Only One Member

1. Electric Light Orchestra

Ever since the end of the '60s, many people have wondered if there would be another band who could rise to the Beatles' mantle. Regardless of how many people have tried and failed, there's no one who can really hold a candle to the massive amount of creativity present with the Fab Four. There was one outlier in the '70s who had that spark though, and his name was Jeff Lynne.

Then again, you wouldn't have thought that from the look of Electric Light Orchestra. Compared to the more traditional rock band setup, the amount of people needed to make a sound this gigantic is unparalleled, oftentimes featuring a full on orchestra whenever the band took to the stage. As far as the songs are concerned though, Lynne has always been the reason why ELO have lasted this long, picking and choosing just the right production styles and instrumental backing tracks to make songs like Mr. Blue Sky and Telephone Line sound amazing.

Even outside of the traditional ELO route, Lynne has proven himself to be a masterful producer behind the scenes, working with everyone from Tom Petty to the Beatles themselves on their Anthology Series. While the name Electric Light Orchestra fits their brand of music fairly well, the more recent rechristening of Jeff Lynne's ELO seems fairly apt considering what he has done for the world of rock and roll.
