5. Lagwagon
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnusAz6i1yk Not too much is known yet about the upcoming Lagwagon album, but in a
recent interview with New Noise Magazine, frontman Joey Cape revealed that this seminal California-based punk band is in the middle of writing, and will hit the studio mid/late spring. No official release date has been set as of yet, but Cape says he expects it to be out sometime around October of this year. If all goes according to plan, this will be Lagwagon's first full-length album since 2005's "Resolve," and their first album of new music since a 2008 EP. Joey Cape has kept busy since then, maintaining a steady solo career, as well as being part of what seems to be countless other projects (Bad Astronaut/Scorpios/Bad Loud/Me First and the Gimme Gimmes). It what would be undoubtedly the most anticipated punk album of the year (let alone from Fat Wreck Chords), this album is sure to bring listeners back to their younger skate days. Lagwagon haven't changed their sound or image much throughout their 20+ year career - setting aside the dark and somber lyrics of "Resolve," inspired by the death of original drummer Derrick Plourde - so it is highly unlikely for a sound change this late in the game. After a recent revival in touring, it only makes sense to record and release some new material.
