Every Nickelback Album Ranked From Worst To Best
6. The State
Going way back to 1999 for our next entry, ‘The State’ is Nickelback’s second studio album. Still exhibiting the raw, post-grunge vibes established by ‘Curb’, this album managed to show the first signs of evolution in Nickelback’s sound.
Although the style of this record is still a long way from the ‘Photograph’ and ‘Rockstar’ sound that was to come, ‘The State’ presented a more marketable sound, establishing its own sense of identity in the process.
Tunes such as the opener, ‘Breathe’, keep the rough, gritty garage approach alive while ‘Leader of Men’ brings great, progressive rock vibes to the table. ‘The State’ certainly isn’t the most famous or successful album Nickelback have put out, but it is nonetheless a solid post-grunge release with plenty of character.
