Metallica: 10 Best Songs AFTER St. Anger

6. Now That We're Dead

Now this is a Metallica anthem for modern times. Its hard not to tap your feet to this triumphant-feeling song.

Perhaps obviously the song details love existing beyond life and through death eternally. For such a dark-tinged song, Metallica have rarely sounded s confident and upbeat in their output. The chorus alone is one of the catchiest pieces of music the band have crafted in a long time. The main guitar riff is chunky, powerful and hook-laden. This is a great example of the band creating a catchy song without compromising their signature metal sound. Now That We're Dead is not the heaviest of their output but it never needed to be on an album like Hardwired.. to Self-Destruct.

Live performances of the songs have become commonplace at Metallica live shows. The percussive, slow-burn intro seems to resonate wonderfully with fans and is guaranteed to get people moving and singing along.

Not quite heavy and not quite soft, this is Metallica sounding their best in a moderate context.
