Muse: 10 Essential Tracks ALL Fans Should Listen To

8. Starlight

Starlight was a departure from Muse's previous releases, a more sombre and calming track that dealt with love and loss, the feeling of being abandoned and left alone. It's certainly different from the darker, grittier tracks of their previous work, but as part of Black Holes and Revelations, it fits perfectly within an album that broadened the bands overall appeal.

Its lyrics define an essential part of human emotion, that need for hope and the expectations that come along with it that are constantly lost to the dark, or in this case the 'black holes and revelations' that gives the album its title.

So when you think about it, it's a beautifully played track across a lighter tone, but it's true purpose hides a darker and more meaningful story, an overall theme that many Muse songs have reused since.

Across all of their live performances since, you can be guaranteed that Starlight will get air time. It's the perfect balance to their harder hitting and slower tracks that many fans still can't get enough of.

Born in Ireland and raised in Australia, Mark still wishes his Tetris and Mario Kart skills could translate to the real world more than just writing about games for nearly 20 years. Still, can't complain.
