Kylie's Music
Kylie first sang her breakthrough hit "The Locomotion" as part of a rudimentary band made up of the cast of Neighbours. No one could have predicted the heights that 'singer Kylie' would reach. Releasing a studio version of the same song, it became an instant international hit. Followed up with tracks such as "I Should Be So Lucky" and "Got To Be Certain" One interesting fact about our Kylie is that she has the unenviable record of the most number 2 records in UK chart history. In other words, she just missed out on number by *THIS MUCH* an astounding 9 times. Some of Kylie's biggest hits - "Better the Devil You Know", "On A Night Like This" and "Love At First Sight" were amongst some of her tracks that failed to reach the top spot, but are still some of my favourites.
Of course smashes like "Spinning Around" and "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" more than make up for some occasional lacklustre musical decisions over the past 25 years. From headlining arena tours, to TV appearances, to an intimate anti-tour Kylie has pretty much done it all. For UK and Australian audiences, she even included water features as part of her stage set, a first for a live performer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c18441Eh_WE She is the only female artist in the UK to have had a number one album in the 1980's, 1990's, 2000' and 2010's. Just wrap your head around that one! These were albums with fresh material and not merely rehashed compilations. There is a back catalogue that precedes her and she is up there with the most popular female artists in the world, even today. With just a few dud years in the mid 1990's, Kylie has always bounced back with music that appeals to the massess. Hands down she is the most successful sister in terms of her astounding international music career.
