7 Awesome Live Performances That Ended In Devastating Riots

3. Guns n' Roses - Download Festival (2006)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KWlycE3r0k To be fair, just looking at Axl Roses' fat pie-faced frame these days is enough to make anyone want to lob their cat at someone. However with nay a feline in sight following their drastically deflating performance at 2006's Download, a fraction of the thousands in attendance took to burning their tents alongside creating makeshift barricades to prevent the fire brigade from entering the campsite. The authorities had to don riot gear and storm the field in what must surely have looked like some sort of Lord of the Rings-esque showdown for the ages, with a billowing inferno illuminating the proceedings. Whilst you could argue that it was Guns n' Roses horrifically lacklustre short set that put in motion such a disgusting display of behaviour, the kinds of people willing to indulge in such things should be scorched themselves. Festival Director John Probyn remarked that it was a small number of people who "spoiled the end of what had been a great weekend for over 75,000 of us".
