1. Christopher Reeve & Robin Williams The two were classmates and roommates at Julliard School for the Performing Arts in New York City. They were so close they vowed to help each other out throughout life. Both left school and did well; besides other film and stage roles, Christopher made his career playing Superman in four films, while Robin exploded on the small screen in Mork and Mindy. After Reeve's accident, Robin was one of the first to rush to his friend's bedside. The story goes that Reeve was lying in bed contemplating his upcoming surgeries - and his future - when Robin burst into his room in scrubs pretending to be a proctologist, making him laugh. An urban legend has it that Williams paid all of Reeve's medical expenses but both stressed it was just that, a legend. While some bills were paid by Reeve's medical insurance, he became an in-demand motivational speaker and writer which brought an income, and Williams insisted he only helped out with a van and a generator to keep Christopher's respirator going after a power failure made it a necessity.
