10 Greatest #SochiFails Of The 2014 Winter Olympics
3. The Dog Days of Winter?
There are a stunning amount of stray dogs who roam the streets of Sochi, and the despicable rumour is that Sochi officials even authorised the extermination of over 2,000 of these strays during the two year period before and during the games. The dogs can be found on nearly every street searching for food scraps, fighting with one another and occasionally even find their way into hotel rooms. Even with the ritual extermination, it proved hard to control the dogs and keep them off the Olympic grounds. One dog in particular made headlines by crossing over a ski route during competition, and causing officials to scurry to remove the dog before it interfered with athletes. Olympic athletes and spectators raced to adopt and rescue as many dogs as they could, but still many of the misplaced canines lost their lives. A real Fail on a scale larger than any of the logistical fails.
