If you go down to the shops today, you're sure of a big surprise.

Millions of children were stuck at home during the pandemic, with schools and parks were closed and not able to meet with their friends. It was, and still is, a daunting time for the younglings.

That was why 13-year-old Stevie-Lee from New Zealand organised a game to play with her distance cousins, which the rest of the country soon participated in. The rules were simple, people would leave teddy bears in their windows, gardens and balconies for other children to find and count how many they spotted. A socially distanced scavenger hunt!

The game was played all around the world, including in Japan, the United States of America, and Australia.

Talking to the New York Times, Eliah and Avah's Mother's Annelee Scott shared how “it started as something fun to do while taking the kids out for a walk. 'How many bears can we spot today?' But it’s so much more than that now. It’s helping people get through a really scary time. A lot of people are struggling with feeling anxious, alone and sad.”
