10 Horrific Crimes That Happened On Halloween

2. Tyneside's Unsolved Halloween Murder Mystery

In one of the UK's most baffling and shocking crimes of the 60s, 70-year-old Katherine Armstrong was murdered on the night of Halloween. Armstrong's battered body was found at her home in Sandyford, Newcastle, in the morning of 1st November, 1963 Miss Armstrong had been stabbed in and around her head 28 times, she had numerous cuts on her hands, and there was a nylon stocking tied around her neck. Help was requested for officers in London, and a 60-strong team of detectives worked tirelessly to work out how and why the murder had taken place. Armstrong had last been seen alive by two children the night before her body was found, and there was no sign of a forced entry - leading police to believe that she may have known the killer. Unfortunately, the killer was never discovered, and the gruesome murder remains a mystery to this day.
