Bill was a goat who served as an infantryman (goat?) in the Canadian Army during World War I.

He was picked up by a trainload of Canadian soldiers on their way to war. To their credit, they never turned him into stew. He was a great mascot, raising soldiers’ morale and is even credited with saving three lives.He headbutted three Canadian warriors into a trench moments before shells exploded where they had been previously standing.

Sgt Bill sustained a bunch of wounds but he survived the war and returned home like a boss.
