3. Joey Diaz's Regret
A longtime friend of Joe Rogan and frequent guest, Joey ‘Coco’ Diaz is known for his outrageous sense of humour, and anecdotes from his past life of drug addiction, crime, and jail time.
The turning point for Joey occurred after the last time he went to jail in Colorado. Serving sixteen months of a four-year prison sentence for aggravated robbery and kidnapping, it was while inside, Joey discovered his passion for stand-up comedy.
In an episode of the Experience from 2014, Diaz shares the story of how he later bought cocaine from the man he had once kidnapped. ‘Coco’ admitted he continues to feel guilt for his actions to this day, and eventually apologised to his former abductee, and maintains contact to this day.
Joey never shies away from sharing stories about his hard-drug-addled past and uses much of it in his stand-up material.
