10 Most Intriguing Unsolved Murders Of All Time

2. The Zodiac Killings

Like The Doodler, The Zodiac Killer was an unidentified serial killer in the late 1960's responsible for the deaths of 5 people, although he claimed to have killed 37 in total. His first victims were David Farady (17) and Betty Lou Jensen (16), both of who were shot. The following year Michael Mageau (19) and Darlene Ferrin (22) were also shot whilst sat in a parked car, however Mageau survived the shooting and was able to provide a description of the killer. Newspapers started to receive letters from a person claiming to be the Zodiac Killer, taking credit for the murders. In the letters he described in detail the crime scene, what the victims were wearing and even how their bodies were positioned. Each letter also contained one-third of a 408-symbol cryptogram which would reveal his identity.
"I LIKE KILLING PEOPLE BECAUSE IT IS SO MUCH FUN IT IS MORE FUN THAN KILLING WILD GAME IN THE FORREST BECAUSE MAN IS THE MOST DANGEROUE ANAMAL OF ALL TO KILL SOMETHING GIVES ME THE MOST THRILLING EXPERENCE IT IS EVEN BETTER THAN GETTING YOUR ROCKS OFF WITH A GIRL THE BEST PART OF IT IS THAE WHEN I DIE I WILL BE REBORN IN PARADICE AND THEI HAVE KILLED WILL BECOME MY SLAVES I WILL NOT GIVE YOU MY NAME BECAUSE YOU WILL TRY TO SLOI DOWN OR ATOP MY COLLECTIOG OF SLAVES FOR MY AFTERLIFE EBEORIETEMETHHPITI"
The meaning of the last 18 letters are still unknown. Over the years many people have claimed to be The Zodiac Killer, even recently. In May 2014 a book written by Gary Stewart claimed that his biological father, Earl Van Best, Jr. was the Zodiac Killer. Despite this claim, the case still remains open and has done since 1969.
