10 Really Awkward Moments Only WhatsApp Users Will Know

Don't worry - a ghost with its tongue out makes everything better.

WhatsApp is, without a doubt, the best instant messaging app in the world right now. With 450 million people using the service, it's become an integral part of our everyday lives. When technology like this suddenly sinks into our social infrastructure, it comes with the same daily circumstances we go through in real-life communication. Only, bringing a fresh set of technological hilarities to the mixer. How much of your life do you spend deliberating whether to send the winking cat or that cheeky tongue-out emoji? Then it gets even trickier. Which tongue do you send? The cute tongue to the side? The wink with the stuck-out tongue? The face with stuck-out tongue and eyes closed? Perhaps the latter gives off sexual insinuations...best stick to the first one. These are big decisions, man. Send a horny purple devil to the wrong person and you're potentially committing mass social suicide, our life suddenly taking the form of a 'Face Screaming In Fear' emoji. Now Facebook has bought WhatsApp for $19 billion the list of features are bound to grow, for better or worse - bringing brand new social cataclysms to your instant communication. This stuff never happened when we just had landlines. Here are ten hysterical moments all WhatsApp users can relate to, y'all just didn't know you were doing it.

10. Seeing Two Ticks And Having No Reply

The beauty of modern instant messaging - you can't hide, sucker. Just like Facebook's almost bragging declaration of 'SEEN'; WhatsApp's green ticks are your two trusty little snitches. This can be an advantage and a curse: it's definitely not good when the situation's reversed, and someone you really can't be bothered to chat to is constantly popping up. That damn 'last seen at' counter next to your name is a massive giveaway that, yes, you have been online for the past 3 hours, there could just be a HUGE possibility you're ignoring them.

9. The Epic Dilemma Of Putting A Kiss On The End Of A Message

This isn't text messaging - which leaves us muddled and uneasy when it comes to the decision of leaving a kiss on the end of each message. Ordinarily, this 'X' would signify the end of a conversation, but it's highly likely you're going to reply to the other person again within the next 3 minutes. Do you come across excessively needy if you put a kiss after every x single x message x? You could easily be perceived as cold and offish if you didn't. Oh God it's so tough, this world of kiss etiquette. Here, just have ten and deal with it.
