4. Instant Amnesia For Names

"Hi, my name is..." Whenever you are introduced to new people in any situation - and particularly if you are introduced to a lot of them at once - it is nigh on impossible to remember all the names flying at you from all angles (unless you possess some sort of Derren Brown-like genius). Despite it being impossible for you to commit every name to memory, that won't stop each and every person who's name you forget feeling personally wounded that they clearly were not memorable enough for you to take note of. If you're adept to dealing with this situation, you will resign yourself to forever referring to people by generic nicknames (e.g. "Hey, man, how's it going?") until their name crops up in conversation again and you can absorb it properly.
