10 Suspects Of The Jack "The Ripper" Murders - 125 Years On

3. The Asylum Patient: David Cohen/Nathan Kaminsky

Cohen Possibly one of the least romantic suspects that has come forth in the last 125 years, there is no doubt however a lot to consider in Cohen's favour as a possible Ripper. Former Assistant Commissioner Sir Robert Anderson had claimed that the Ripper had been identified after he was admitted to an asylum as a poor Polish Jew of the Whitechapel area. Such a profile fits Cohen-whose real name was supposedly Nathan Kaminsky- perfectly. Furthermore, while in the asylum he was shown to be particularly violent towards both himself, fellow inmates and staff. While this relies on Anderson's testimony, his testimony has been shown to be much more reliable than his contemporary Macnaughten. The question is whether Cohen and Kaminsky are actually the same man. While much has been made to attempt to confirm this, nothing definitive has been proven. Cohen remains, however, a viable suspect.
