Back when Howard decided she wanted to make a name for herself, she wanted to do so on her own, without getting a job based purely on her father's famous surname. She applied to various drama schools with her last name dropped, though she quickly regretted the decision and reverted back to her full name as she thought Bryce Dallas sounded like a stripper's name. In fact, she was given the middle name Dallas as that is where she was conceived.
