7. Her First Film Appearance Was...

Howard was held back from acting at a young age as her parents wanted her to enjoy a grounded, relatively down-to-earth childhood rather than get sucked into the Hollywood life early on. However, Howard was allowed to feature as extras in films directed by her father, with her first brief appearance coming in Parenthood (1989), while she can also be briefly spotted as the 'girl in yellow dress' during Apollo 13. These tasters were enough to convince her that she wanted to go into acting, and performed with various small theatre companies while she also spent time at performing arts camps along with Natalie Portman, who she remains friends with.
