2. An Employee Dressed As Pluto Died After Being Crushed Beneath A Beauty And The Beast Float (Walt Disney World)
And yet another incident that resulted in the unfortunate death of a DisneyWorld worker - this time involving one of the actors whose job is to dress up as famous characters and perform around the park for visitors. The victim was one Javier Cruz, a 38-year-old man who - during the daily Disney parade - was dressed as Pluto at the time of his death; he was reported to have tripped and was then run over and subsequently crushed by the Beauty and the Beast float as it made its way out of the backstage zone towards the public area of the park. Cruz's co-workers were left with no choice but to enlist a forklift in order to raise the float from on top of his body. According to a Disney spokesman, none of the visitors were believed to have witnessed the incident. As a result of Cruz's death, Disney were fined a mere $6,500 for safety violations.
