10 Trivial Things People Hate For No Reason

2. Phil Collins

For a man who has such an impressively successful career producing music which is largely inoffensive, there are few public figures who are disliked as much as Phil Collins. For my sins, I will admit that one or two of his songs are exceptionally catchy, and that I actually enjoy a couple of them, but that's as far as it goes. It's difficult to pinpoint the moment it happened, but for some reason, Britain in particular took a great disliking towards Collins, where he was even spoofed in cult puppet satire show Spitting Image. But even across the pond, the opinion has begun to turn against him, with the likes of South Park lampooning him. Whether it's the look of that weird, trying-to-be-cool uncle he constantly has about him, or the fact that since the turn of the nineties, he's basically resorted himself to making a living releasing what is essentially the same generic ballad, we just seem to have all united as a population in thinking that Phil Collins is a cretin. Phil Collins may very well be a cretin, but we have absolutely no evidence to prove this, which makes the mass perception of him all the more impressive. Collins has thankfully become the picture of hate we all deserve, if not the one we need right now. So what's to say that in a few years time, he'll make an astounding comeback and deliver puppies and kittens direct to our doors, but for now, Collins is simply accepted as being the target of hate for a great deal of us, and he's handling it well.
