10 Trivial Things People Hate For No Reason

5. Christians

Now before anyone is sent to a previously unfound level of being offended by this, I am referring to the act of Christianity being subtly dropped into a conversation, not the act of being a Christian itself. Feel free to worship anything you like, I genuinely do not care in the slightest. However, the sort of Christian which seems to boil the blood of a great deal of people is what I can only describe as being the sort of worshipper you're likely to see in an American reality television programme, dropping phrases such as "Jesus loves you" into places they really should not be dropped. Thanks to acts such as the above, anyone who introduces themselves as being a Christian is immediately to be dealt with from a safe distance. Speaking from personal experience, I find it extremely uncomfortable when a stranger begins to speak about how God loves me and how he's watching over whatever it is that I'm doing. And no, it's not necessarily because that sounds unimaginably creepy, but because the person I'm talking to doesn't realise just how flat out socially weird they're being. Everyone with a brain knows not to force a belief, religious or otherwise onto another person, but when you're faced with a person who is "simply trying to do good" whilst also not forcibly saying you're wrong for not following their beliefs is when things get weird. To me, it often feels like what you're talking to is a great big vessel, filled to the brim with quotations and helpful, faith-affirming phrases which can be applied to any given situation in life, without the least bit of effort on behalf of your brain. Even more disconcerting is the fact that such people tend to be completely interchangeable, you could literally swap thousands of middle-of-the-road Christians the world over, and apart from key physical differentiations, you'd be hard pushed to tell them apart, so far is the extent of similarity in behaviour and catchphrases.
