12 Insane Real-Life Prison Breaks You Won't Believe

5. Ted Bundy - Walked Out

Ted Bundy is the most vicious, dangerous entry to this list, after eventually confessing to 30 murders, though the list could actually run past 100 victims. Murder, assault, rape, kidnapping, you name it, Ted Bundy was probably jailed for it. He was one of the most dangerous men in America during the 70s, yet he was simply allowed to walk out of the door. Bundy chose to represent himself, and was mind-bogglingly allowed to brush up on his lawyer skills in the courthouse library...unsupervised. There was no elaborate escape, no intricate plan, Bundy simply hopped through a window and walked away. He was caught, and this time, his legal defence told him to stay put as the case was remarkably weak and could actually be beaten. He didn't listen, and after sawing a hole in the roof of his cell, he ended up in the jailer's quarters - who was on a date that night - so Bundy took his clothes and walked out. He was discovered in Florida after more killings and was subsequently shoved into the electric chair.
