12 Pieces Of Sci-Fi Tech That We Wish Were Real

6. Sonic Screwdriver

The Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver is so handily versatile that they should probably just call it a Plot Device 3000 and have done with it.

It can manipulate almost any matter (except wood and anything "deadlocked", apart from when it can because of plot).

From picking locks to lighting candles and would be the ultimate Swiss Army knife of the future (although we don't want to imagine which dark night of the soul the Doctor decided that he needed to programme it to fix barbed wire and light candles).

A real-life sonic screwdriver would be amazingly useful. However, it would be a little bit inconvenient if it somehow stopped working every time something important or dramatic happened (causing you to go on a dangerous adventure), but those are the kinds of glitches we can smooth out in beta testing.
