12 Things Ed Miliband Wants You To Forget

11. Ed Stabbed His Brother David In The Back In Order To Became Labour Leader... And The Manner In Which He Did So Greatly Tarnished His Image

The Labour leadership election in 2010 turned not only into a battle within the party itself - but also into a bitter civil war within the Miliband family as siblings Ed (pictured above, right) and David (pictured above, left) went head to head. David Miliband had been viewed as a Labour leader-in-waiting ever since he first became an MP in 2001 due to the fact he was a confident public speaker and appeared a natural successor to the likes of Tony Blair. It was assumed that Ed Miliband would accept this and, once his brother put his own candidacy forward in 2010, step aside. But this certainly did not turn out to be the case. Instead, Ed Miliband joined the race just a week after his brother, stating that he believed he could bring the Labour Party back towards its core values. Ed Miliband admitted in March 2015: "It (standing against David) had bigger ramifications for my family, and for my relationship with David, than I had anticipated." The brutal way in which he had usurped his brother and assumed the Labour leadership left a sour taste in many people's mouths, and Ed Miliband has never really recovered. To make things even worse for Ed, the awkward way he looked at David after beating him in the election before declaring "David, I love you" is one of the most cringeworthy moments in British political history...
