13 Harsh Truths You Learn When You Live Alone

1. Doing What You Want

The morning comes. You look at your clock. It€™s 7am. You€™re alive and feel great. Today is your day. You will run. You will talk to people. You will make a salad. The thing is, living by yourself is great but, just like Hugh Grant says in €˜About A Boy€™, it€™s about being your own activities manager and living your life like a TV show. You have to make yourself do things because no-one else will. By 12pm, the house is clean, the spider is, er, €˜gone€™ (we€™ll ignore that) and you€™ve been for a run round the park. Life is great. Of course, living with others is great too but when you live by yourself you can pretend you€™re a rock star. You can take on wild beasts in the comfort of your own home, or defeat Jason Voorhees. You can cheer for Rocky taking down the Soviet Union or laugh at the fact that €˜no pants day€™ is an actual thing. Living alone, sometimes it€™s harsh but mostly, it€™s great. Apart from the spiders. They€™re bloody terrifying.
