2. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy Hit The Screens
The comedy genius that is Anchorman has since taken on a life of its own with its innumerable gags we still find ourselves quoting ten years since its release, but back in 2004, it was brand new. Set in San Diego, the movie's ludicrous take on the 1970s action-news format is still capable of bringing grown men to tears or crumpling them into a heap of hilarity thanks to the japes and antics of News Team Ron Burgundy, Brian Fantana, Brick Tamland, Champ Kind and the ambitious outsider Veronica Corningstone. The movie missed the chopping board by the skin of its teeth as it had been pitched to DreamWorks nearly 20 times before they eventually picked it up, admitting they had little faith that director Adam McKay would be able to base a movie around TV anchors successfully. On paper, it didn't look like it should have worked, but hindsight firmly proves otherwise. A decade on and the gloriously ridiculous movie combines some of the best comedy actors into 94 minutes of bedlam and reigns supremacy over the genre of silly dumb-ass comedy, now having entered into our everyday vocabulary, "60% of the time, it works every time."
