8. Stiff High Collars

Reign: 19th Century For a while, men were just as coo-coo to die for their fashion choices as their female counterparts. The "Stiff High Collar", otherwise known as "The Father Killer", was a detachable high collar that was so tight that it would cut off circulation to the brain. But at least they looked swish. In other cases men were strangled to death by their collars (too proud to take it off, perhaps?) from indigestion that would swell their throats.
