You knew that you had made it as an adult when you could look yourself up in the phone book. There was actually a lot of fun you could have in a phonebook. If you were out 'clubbing' and you bumped into a cute girl but you didn't have time to ask for her number, you could always look her up and actually speak to her. Nowadays people stalk each other's online profiles and know about their life history before they've even asked them out on a date. And even then, it's a private message or a text as opposed to an actual phone call because ringing a stranger to ask them out is now considered to be a bit weird.
