The "bucket meal" is synonymous with KFC nowadays - but the first one was not actually served in a restaurant until 1957, 15 years after the chain started. Pete Harman, the operator of the franchise in South Salt Lake, Utah, introduced the "bucket meal" - containing 14 pieces of chicken, five bread rolls and a pint of gravy, all served in cardboard - in 1957 before it was adopted by all outlets.
