4. He May Not Have Been Harbouring Weapons Of Mass Destruction... But Hussein Left Behind An Array Of Gold And Silver-Plated Pistols And Knives

Tony Blair and George W Bush have been forced to backtrack on their public assertions that Hussein was still harbouring WMDs in the early-1990s - but the Iraqi leader did have access to some pretty snazzy conventional weapons. From Hussein's own personal collection, US soldiers discovered numerous gold and silver-plated Tabuk rifles, pistols, assault rifles and even grenade launchers. Other expensive items found were a small but priceless pocket knife (pictured above), as well as a gold-plated Rolex watch that sold for more than £100,000 at auction. Saddam seemingly was all about the bling - with some of the pistols even being encrusted with diamonds...
