How many of you remember when Hilary Swank was the lead role in 1994's not-quite-smash-movie-hit, The Next Karate Kid? The movie featured Pat Morita in his legendary role as Mr. Miyagi, but this time, he wasn't teaching Ralph Macchio's Daniel LaRusso character. Instead, he was teaching... an angry teenage girl. The fact that most of you either had no idea such a movie exists, or had to be reminded of it by this particular list entry, is why Swank makes this list. It would be a few years until she became more well-known, this time for her more serious acting chops, starring in 1999's Boys Don't Cry and then 2004's Million Dollar Baby, sending her career into the stratosphere. It's Million Dollar Baby that is most fondly remembered, causing people to think that the movie was her introduction to the world. Even at that rate, you'd have to place her in her late-20's, at the very youngest, but just knowing that her career extends so much further back than 2004 seals the deal for her inclusion here.
