4. Coca-Cola Sponsored The 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics... Leading To Protests From LGBT Groups
The 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics really could not have been much more controversial - particularly when it came to the issue of homosexuality. With Russia having passed a law banning "propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations to minors" in the build-up to the Games, many LGBT groups around the world took to the streets in protest. Many of these groups even called for a boycott of all Coca-Cola products - due to the fact the company was one of the Games' official sponsors and refused to remove its branding from the Sochi Olympics. Coca-Cola posted an open letter on its website claiming it was "one of the world's most-inclusive brands", but this was not enough to placate some LGBT groups who continue to boycott their products.
