20 Things The World Would Be A Better Place Without

12. Funeral Selfies

Unfortunately, yes, this is a thing. And not just for irresponsible teenagers, but with, you know, the President of the United States, and, erm, the Prime Minister of Britain. Indeed, the above photo shows Barack Obama, David Cameron, and Denmark's Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt snapping a playful selfie at the memorial service of Nelson Mandela. Kudos to Michelle Obama - whose frosty expression says it all. If they'd had the chance to Instagram the shot - chances are we would have seen something along the lines of: "Seeing Mandela off with the bros #funeralswag'" There's a whole tumblr site devoted to Selfies At Funerals which climaxes with the Mandela selfie, saying 'OUR WORK HERE IS DONE'. Amen to that.

11. Homophobes

If homophobia was an Olympic sport, Russia would be drowning in gold. This month, the Winter Olympics kicked off in the Russian resort of Sochi, amid a flurry of controversy over Vladimir Putin's oppressive homophobic policies. Coverage has shown us just how far back in time the country has gone in terms out outrageous homophobia: banning the promotion of 'non traditional' sexual relations, arresting people for displaying rainbow flags, and sacking teachers for simply being gay or lesbian. It truly boggles the brain as to why this is still an issue. A triumphant number of homophobic laws in the world have been banished, and many countries have great laws on sexual orientation and gender identity. But gay freedom should be worldwide. Everyone needs to get together on this and dispel this behaviour until it becomes universally illegal. Equal human rights FTW.
