Every Major Alton Towers Ride Ranked Worst To Best

5. The Wicker Man

The latest ride to be welcomed to Alton Towers at the time of writing, The Wicker Man is a stunningly designed ride themed around the horror classic film, and is the first wooden roller coaster to have been built in the United Kingdom for over twenty years.

Found in the Mutiny Bay on the site of the old Flume ride, The Wicker Man cost £16 million to build and is sort of a hybrid between a traditional Runaway Train ride and an intense roller coaster. Riders are treated to a quick preshow before the ride where they are sealed off in a dark room and told that they have been selected to appease the Wicker Man.

The ride has a way of making its 43.6mph top speed feel more intense than most other rides with some seriously ambitious wide turns, and makes great use of its theme and special effects. All in, riders will fly through burning effigy of The Wicker Man a total of three times during their time on the ride and experience a far more thrilling time of things than what the looks on the exterior might lead them to believe.
